Description
A dark, strange, and humorous story about a nine year old farm boy with indifferent parents and a pedophile neighbor explodes his imagination as a coping mechanism for his dysfunctional family life. The expression of himself and his pet horse as true heroes allow him to escape his traumatic reality. Colorful characters in an alternate dream world mirror the unusual people in his real world. The brutality of slaughtering farm animals and the fear of wild beasts reflect the perils of daily life. Mysterious images traveling through shadows and cultural confusion add to his daily struggles in both realms. He’s too young to be cynical and fully understand his upsetting environment. He’s existing in the only world he knows, as all children do.
Author Biography
His first Novelette release, ‘The Supersonic Rescue Pony’ under the pen name, Kaspar Stirling
Kaspar Stirling resides Northwest of Austin, Texas. A writer since childhood but never publicly released until recently. Notably a second grade creative writing assignment that was a parody of a television talk show called, ‘The Sid Show’, also under the pen name, Butch. He is musician and a songwriter, a graphic artist, and a cartoonist all at heart but never as a profession. A lifetime of low paying jobs has contributed to survival below the poverty line since the age of fourteen. A dysfunctional family upbringing filled with alcoholism, violence, constant relocation, and abandonment created an early struggle with his life, including his own battles with addiction and depression. Fortunately those things have been beneficial in allowing him to experience all walks of life from running a recording studio near the projects in East Nashville, to driving an eighteen wheeler across the USA, to gardening in multi million dollar homes overlooking the Austin, Texas and Santa Fe, New Mexico skylines. He’s a high school dropout who persevered to obtain an Associates Arts Degree while working full time as a gas station pump jockey. The shift in technology and the ability to become an independent artist has opened the doors for more opportunity as a professional creator. The largest obstacles in his creative endeavors have always been financing advertising and promotion. He has multiple music releases under the names Sidney Stephens, Bosephus Squid, Sidney Vance Stephens, and The Big Sid. He is a father and husband, pet owner of cats and dogs, and lover of old cars, music, and movies.
