Waymore’s Liquor Store is owned and operated by Helen and James Jennings in Littlefield, Texas. I visited and showed Waylon Jennings younger brother a card with a QR code linked to my website and he said, “My computer is a number two lead pencil.” So Teresa and I built them a free website and sent him some pencils with his web address printed on them. It’s the least I could do to honor them and the music legacy of Waylon Jennings.
Nathaniel Allen is good friend and awesome artist. Nathaniel was not only my Best Man at my wedding, but we recorded an album together. The L.G.’s, Want too Much was a fun collaboration. I really want to make another record someday, but we are both very busy with family and work. We also live very far from each other. He’s currently teaching fine art (I think) in a big university in Alabama and still creating masterpieces.
My good friend and ex boss in Nashville. Andy Logan is an amazing guitarist and now also an author . He’s definitely worth a listen. He was in a band called Little America in the eighties. They had a few hits and got to hang around at MTV in it’s prime. I met Andy at my job at a screen printing company in Nashville. He was technically my boss but was always more of a friend. I rented an upstairs apartment from Andy that actually enabled me to really start recording my music. The second floor was a little rough with no heat or air conditioning but it was still great. It was the only time in my life I had a place all to myself. Andy has given me lots of pointers on playing and writing music. I’ve always appreciated that.
Alison Kidney Logan is one of the best artists I’ve ever seen. Fine art to illustration to album covers. She’s also Andy Logan’s wife. I also know her from the screen printing job. Unfortunately, she had to cover me when I didn’t show up to work. She’s just an amazing person.
Kurt Custer is in a band called Valley Sons. He is the most talented drummer I know. He’s the guy playing drums on Steve Earle’s, Copperhead Road. He and Andy Logan have made a few albums together as Custer and Logan. Kurt also toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd for a while along with Steve Earle and the Dukes. I also know him from the screen printing job. I had the privilege of renting a room from Kurt before the upstairs apartment at Andy’s was made available. It was cool meeting famous musicians sometimes even though I didn’t know who they were. One guy even showed me a better way to play Sweet Home Alabama after they overheard me butchering it in my room. It just happened to be the guy who wrote that famous guitar riff, but I was completely unaware.
Ben Shaw is a musician I met at the 2022 CD Baby DIY Music Conference in Austin. He’s a good dude from Rhode Island with a cool vibe. Check him out.
Jacquie Hollis Martinez is a friend that operates an Art Gallery in Buda, Texas. She was originally friends with my girlfriend (now wife) in Austin in the 90’s and later lived with my mom while getting settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Eventually she made it back to Texas after getting married to her New Mexico artist husband, Geraldo Martinez. It’s a wonderful gallery.
Amy Rhea Harrison is a very good author. Get her book, ‘Beautiful Is Love‘ on Amazon Kindle or other outlets.
Of course I have many other friends in music and art, I’ll try to keep this updated
